Mike Modano Weekly Wrap-Up: Monday, March 24
It was a week to get back on track for the Dallas Stars as goalie Marty Turco
returned from injury and the team regained a share of the No. 1 spot in the
Western Conference with Detroit. Mike Modano capped a back-and-forth
contest against Atlanta with a game-winning goal in overtime to start the week
and Turco allowed only one goal against St. Louis in his return victory to end

Quotes:
In a cover story by Sports Page Dallas, Modano was named as the
biggest sports star in Dallas with the departure of Emmitt Smith. Some
selected comments on Modano from the article:
“Modano is the heart and soul of one of the NHL’s dominant teams and is
regarding by just about everyone as one of the must unassuming superstars who
has ever graced the city.”
Sports Page Dallas
“Modano edges out A-Rod because Mo’s been here longer, has entrenched himself
more into the community.”
Mike Doocy, sports anchor of Fox 4 News
“Mike Modano is unquestionably the biggest star in this market right
now. He is always in any discussion of ‘the best players in the game’ and
has led the team on the ice since coming to Texas. He is worth the price
of admission any night, and has brought nothing but superior entertainment on
the ice. He’s also been a positive community presence off the ice over his
certain Hall of Fame career.”
Ralph Strangis, Stars play-by-play
announcer
“He’s an approachable guy who doesn’t come off as putting on any kind of
airs. And every time he’s got the puck by himself in open ice, he brings
people out of their seats.”
