The Mike Modano Cottage
Mike's goal of erecting a house for charity has finally become a reality. On Wednesday, October 2, The Mike Modano Foundation presented a check for $565,000 to Jonathan's Place at the official ground breaking of a new 6-acre campus in Garland which will house the Mike Modano Cottage. “Our Board of Directors believe in and support the expansion of Jonathan’s Place,” said Modano. “The new facilities will provide a loving and safe place for abused children.”
During the ceremony, Modano used a hockey stick to turn the first earth. The Mike Modano Cottage will provide 18 beds for infants and toddlers and serve 350 abused and neglected Dallas County children.

Challenge officials. There's no set course, you chart the path. And you
get a head start if you successfully navigate the Trivia Challenge that
kicks off the event.
A portion of event registration fees will be donated to The Mike Modano
Foundation. So grab a friend and help The Mike Modano Foundation in its
mission to support abused, neglected or abandoned children in the Dallas

Inaugural Heroes Celebrity
Thanks to everyone that came out to the inaugural Heroes Celebrity
Baseball Game at The Parks at Texas Star in Euless. From start to
finish, it was a great experience for the fans, the sponsors and the
players. The Little Heroes game with the kids showcased some future
superstars, while the Celebrity Home Run Derby exposed some baseball
"might have beens" with some pretty impressive power hitters at the
plate. The super-talented young singing sensation Jer-z kicked off the
main event with a rousing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner as only
she can sing it. (Or was that a young Aretha Franklin we heard?) Tom
Arnold's humorous play-by-play commentary was also a big hit. He kept
the fans and players on their toes with his witty anecdotes.
Unfortunately, Mike's Black Socks team took it on the chin when the
opposing Red Socks walked away with an upset victory. Nonetheless,
everyone was a winner when the final fundraising score was tallied. None of it
would have been possible without the fans. So for those of you that
attended, thanks for supporting The Mike Modano Foundation and for
making our first year a huge success. If you weren't able to take part
this year, you'll have to join us when we do it again next year, 'cause
it will be even bigger and better the second time around.
