Mike Modano has been selected as the 2001-02 honorary spokesman for
Score A Goal in the Classroom's "Teachers Are the Real Heroes" campaign.
Score A Goal in the Classroom is an organization that brings together
the Dallas/Ft. Worth business community and educators and administrators
from the North Texas school systems in a collaborative effort designed
to reward students and teachers for excellence in the classroom.
In his role as spokesman for the "Teachers Are the Real Heroes"
campaign, Mike reminds us that teachers should be respected and
appreciated for all they do to help students achieve their goals in and
out of the classroom. Mike communicates this important message in a
videotape and posters that have been distributed to over 500,000
students in more than 750 schools in the North Texas area. Mike invites
students to write him a letter about a favorite teacher who has helped
make a difference in their life. The best letters will be selected and
the students and their teacher heroes will be the guests of Score A Goal
in the Classroom at the American Airlines Center on April 10, 2002, when
Mike and the Dallas Stars play the Minnesota Wild.
If you have a teacher you would like to write about, call Score A Goal
in the Classroom at 817-429-4024 or go to their web site at
www.scoreagoalintheclassroom.org. Letters must be postmarked by
midnight Monday, April 1, 2002 to be eligible.
Mike and Score A Goal in the Classroom extend their thanks to Reebok,
the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, Reel FX, Sandford Press and Point 360
for their support in the "Teachers Are the Real Heroes" campaign.
